Work With Me

Hello,
I’m Alyssa Tataryn

I work with individuals, leaders, and organizations who are trying to do meaningful work in complex conditions. If you are here, you are likely balancing impact and sustainability, making decisions with limited resources, and navigating a pace of change that doesn’t always allow for reflection and strategy.

Most of the people I work with are not looking for more ideas. They are looking for a space where they can think strategically, understand what matters most, and move forward in a way that is both grounded and effective.

My work integrates coaching and consulting in a way that is intentional.

Consulting alone can create strong plans, but without the space to think, adapt, and lead through them, those plans often don’t hold. Coaching alone can build insight and clarity, but without structure, it can be difficult to translate that into consistent action. Bringing these together allows us to move between reflection and execution in a way that actually supports progress.

This approach is designed to protect and strengthen your agency. You remain the decision-maker, grounded in your context, while building the clarity and confidence to move forward. At the same time, we develop the structures, tools, and plans needed to support operational sustainability and follow-through.

Over time, this builds capacity. You are not just solving the challenge in front of you, you are strengthening how you think, decide, and lead so that future challenges can be met with greater clarity and resilience. This is what allows impact to be sustained, not just achieved.

The sections below outline how this shows up in practice so you can choose the type of support that best fits where you are right now. If you want a deeper explanation of how these approaches differ and work together, you can read The Two Levers of Growth: A Leader’s Guide to Consulting and Coaching.

My Approach

The Value of Strategic Coaching & Consulting

Organizations that commit to coaching and strategic support consistently see measurable outcomes across retention, performance, and financial return:

Ways to Work Together

Organizations and leaders engage my work in different ways depending on the challenges they are navigating. Some relationships are ongoing and support leadership over time, while others focus on specific strategic initiatives or personal leadership development.

FRACTIONAL STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP

Ongoing strategic support for organizations that benefit from having an experienced strategist working alongside leadership throughout the year.

Focus areas:

  • Strategic decision support

  • Financial insight and sustainability

  • Leadership development

  • Governance alignment

  • Strategy implementation

STRATEGIC PROJECTS

Focused consulting engagements that support specific organizational priorities or strategic questions.

Potential Projects:

  • Strategic & operational planning

  • Feasibility & financial model development

  • Impact measurement

  • Board retreat facilitation

  • Theory of Change & Strategic Decision Matrix

  • Community engagement processes

INDIVIDUAL COACHING

Coaching conversations that support individuals navigating complex decisions and transitions.

Coaching follows the principles of the International Coaching Federation and uses the COEC model (Connect, Open, Explore, Close) developed through leadership coaching training at The University of British Columbia.

Not sure which approach is best?

Many organizations begin with a strategic project and later move into an ongoing partnership. Coaching can also be integrated alongside consulting work during periods of leadership transition or organizational change.

Kind Words

Alyssa brings a strong balance of strategy, clarity, and care.

I worked with Alyssa during a period of growth in my consulting practice, when I was refining how I structure and manage my work. Her support helped me strengthen how I position my services and respond to opportunities by implementing intentional systems to track capacity and annual targets.

What stood out most was her relational approach. Alyssa was genuinely open to building a respectful and reciprocal working relationship. She invested in learning about Indigenous cultural safety and engaged with that learning in a thoughtful, grounded way. As a Syilx woman working within my home territories, that care and intentionality mattered.

Alyssa brings a strong balance of strategy, clarity, and care. I would confidently recommend her to anyone looking to strengthen how they lead and sustain their practice.

Alyssa has elevated our business to a more sustainable level.

Alyssa has been an integral part of our business strategy team for the last 5 years. When we began working with her, we had seasonal fluctuations in our finances, a lack of clarity in roles and responsibilities, and felt like we were constantly digging ourselves out of the weeds of day-to-day operations.

Alyssa's ability to be responsive to our needs and create capacity among our ownership team has elevated our business to a more sustainable level. Her creative problem solving has ironed out our financial volatility issues and her organizational skills have helped us create a framework for making our budget goals visible (and attainable!)

Alyssa has consistently built up our confidence as business owners, helped us reflect on our wins, and strategized alongside us through times of struggle. We are so grateful for her contributions to our team!

Who I Work With

My work is most helpful for organizations and individuals who are navigating complexity and want space for thoughtful decision-making.

This often includes organizations that are:

  • experiencing growth, transition, or strategic change

  • exploring new opportunities while maintaining financial sustainability

  • preparing for strategic planning or refining an existing strategy

  • strengthening alignment between leadership and governance

  • working through complex decisions with long-term impact

  • committed to learning, reflection, and thoughtful leadership

Many of the organizations I work with are nonprofits, social enterprises, foundations, or community-based organizations working to create meaningful social impact.

A GOOD FIT OFTEN LOOKS LIKE

Leaders who want support in:

  • thinking through complex strategic decisions

  • translating ideas into clear plans and priorities

  • navigating change within teams and organizations

  • balancing vision with practical implementation

WHEN THIS WORK MAY NOT BE THE RIGHT FIT

This work is less suited for organizations seeking quick answers, rigid templates, or externally imposed solutions.

The process is collaborative and reflective, designed to support clear thinking, shared understanding, and decisions that are sustainable over time.
